What is the child dental benefits schedule?
The Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS) is a government program that helps cover the cost of basic dental services for eligible children. Eligible children aged 0 to 17 may receive up to $1,158 in benefits over 2 consecutive calendar years for eligible dental services. Covered services can include dental check-ups, X-rays, cleaning, fissure sealing, fillings, root canal treatment and extractions, subject to applicable item and time restrictions.

Who is eligible?
Your child may be eligible for the Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS) if:
- They are 0 to 17 years old for at least one day that calendar year.
- They are eligible for Medicare.
- They or their parent, carer or guardian receive an eligible payment at least once that calendar year.
You can check your child’s eligibility and available CDBS balance through your Medicare online account linked to myGov. Eligibility may change during the year.
What is covered?
Child Dental Benefits Schedule may cover a range of eligible basic dental services, including:
- Dental check-ups and examinations
- Dental X-rays
- Cleaning
- Fissure sealing
- Dental fillings
- Root canal treatment
- Tooth extractions

- Eligible CDBS services can be bulk billed at Ringwood Dental where applicable.
